STEVI is Flat Island Boatworks's bold new solar powered multihull boat. After more than a year of development, STEVI was officially launched on July 12 on the day of the Blue Angels' air show. With new ideas and features being added throughout the rest of this summer, STEVI is already the most technologically advanced vessel of it's kind. Call Flat Island Boatworks to arrange a visit during the week, and keep an eye out on the water for STEVI.

STEVI uses two battery banks, one in each hull, to provide 60 Volt electric power to a pair of electric outboard motors that drive the boat easily at six knots.
The batteries are charged by solar-produced electricity from photovoltaic cells mounted on the upper surface of STEVI's awning. Initial trials have show that a half day of sunlight is enough to bring STEVI's batteries from half charge to full charge. There is also a system for dockside charging using conventional electric service.
